Most people start yoga because they have a “bad” back or neck, because they feel stiff, or just want to be able to move more freely. Often this is caused by lifestyle or occupational stresses and we specialise in classes to meet specific needs. A good place to start your yoga journey is to seek a class that matches your specific needs, whether it’s a cranky neck, athletes needing a big stretch, prenatal or a general class. All classes will help you unlock your potential so you can achieve a lot more.
At Symphisis Yoga we guide you and encourage you to discover how to move your body to get the most benefit.
You are encouraged to move between different classes as their needs change.
You will discover the sense of health, physical wellbeing and relaxation that come when you practice Symphisis Yoga. Come to more classes and practice you’ll feel even better.
Yoga Basics classes are an ideal way to start yoga, to refresh your memory if you haven’t been to yoga classes for some time or to relax at a level you feel comfortable with. You will develop an ease with your body as you learn more about what you and your body can do.
Yoga for Necks, Shoulders and Backs - We’ve all had the experience of a grumpy back or neck and often it is that pain which encourages us to start our yoga journey. You can learn how to find relief and free yourself from pain and discomfort.

General classes offer a wide range of yoga postures and sequences for every body. Classes will give practitioners more challenge and opportunity to develop their yoga.

Students from the advanced class hanging out
The advanced/general classes are for students seeking to stretch themselves in every way; increase focus, stretch and strength and take their yoga to a deeper level. If you at a general level and want to do more, you will be uplifted, supported and guided by practitioners who are more advanced than you. Conversely, the more advanced practitioners are uplifted by being able to guide others. Practitioners are guided, rather than instructed and encouraged to discover how to modify yoga poses and sequences for their body. Regular attendance ensures that you get the most out of the class and are also able to contribute to the class. Learning from and supporting each other is an important part of our growth and the physical and emotional support we give allows each of us to go far deeper than we would be able to by ourselves. We all know that an effective partnership or team can accomplish much more than one person.
Prenatal - A special class to create the physical and emotional space for you and your developing baby. This class is for mums and dads “to be”. Take time to relax and connect with the many changes occurring as your baby develops. It’s a time for pampering, stretching, strengthening and of course relieving tired backs. Mums to be can share the joy and the apprehension of this new role and discover how to best support yourself and each other during this time. Sharing your experience with other mums to be can make you feel more comfortable with the massive changes occurring in your body and your life. A big focus of the class is developing a close connection with your child and preparing to care for and guide your child during the years ahead. Dads have found that the class gives them a much deeper understanding of their partner’s needs and how they can help them relieve the aches and pains that can come with pregnancy. Of course the main benefit is helping dads to connect with the baby before it arrives.
Mums and Bubs – an opportunity for you and your baby to be at ease together and to help you and your body recover from giving birth and looking after your baby. Whether your birth was natural or caesarian it will have taken its toll and your body will need help to recover. Caring for your baby and feeding can be stressful for your body, your baby’s weight keeps increasing and it’s such a relief to stretch out all that tightness. This class will help that recovery and will also be an opportunity for you to develop a stronger and more peaceful and harmonious connection with your new baby. Mums are encouraged to share their experiences and yes, dads are very welcome too.
Themed Yoga – a new class which will offer a specific theme each week. The website is updated with new themes each month.
Meditation – Yoga is a pursuit that attracts many people who are both spiritually inclined and spiritually aware. Trish Hardy will guide you through meditations. The aim is to connect with your guides and receive access to information they wish to share about relevant issues in our lives. The meditations are deeply personal and have a direct relevance to daily life. Come along and enjoy.

Hahnemann Healing is also available at the studio. This emotional healing involves the lightest of finger touch and is a powerful way to release negative emotions from the body. Negative emotions that are stored in our body can turn into illness and some 60% of illness is caused by negative emotions that aren’t healed.
