Side Plank is a great balancing pose where you can really feel the power of your energy moving out from the centre of you.  It moves in two directions

  • from the centre of you down to your feet and back up to the top of your head and
  • moving up from the bottom hand to the top hand

At the same time there is a solidity – reflective of a plank that keeps your body firm and stops you falling backwards or forwards – good old abs and gluteals.

Contraindications are shoulders that are unable to weight bear with the arm to the side and wrists that can’t weight bear when extended.    Plenty of options are available so there’s no need to place unnecessary stress on your body.
